A definition for pleasure and pain

I found the following gem in Pandit Usharbudh Arya’s Mantra & Meditation:

The Lawbook of Manu (IV.60) states:

All dependency on other than one’s self is pain,

Whatever is controlled by one’s self is pleasure;

Know this to be, briefly, the definition

of pain and pleasure.
